Read 52 books in 52 weeks 2013

This year, I started a challenge to read 52 books in 52 weeks.  The goal of the challenge is to read at least one book each week for 52 weeks.

Over the last few weeks I’ve continued to read fan-fics in the little bits of time that I’ve had free.  I should be reading something more substantial, but I haven’t.  I won’t make excuses, because there really aren’t any. While I’ve read part of a YA novel, I haven’t finished it yet and haven’t read any other real books beyond my bible and my small group book study.

I *did* finally finish Dragonfly in Amber just last night, and have the next 3 audiobooks (Voyager, Drums of Autumn, and The Fiery Cross) loaded on my iPod for the coming months.  At more than 320 hours total for just these 3 books, I don’t think I’m going to be able to finish all 7 books before #8 is released in the fall.  :\

I just realized that I have 11 works completed and we’re just wrapping up week 10.  At least I’m still slightly ahead.  But now I need to focus more on real books in order to build up my book buffer again.

2013 Finished books

  1. The Custom of the Army by Diana Gabaldon (Outlander novella)
  2. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (5/5/5 chunky #1)

Linked book titles are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy the book, I’ll receive a small token of the sale.  If you’d like to help me out but prefer a different version than the one linked, let me know. I’d be more than happy to create a custom link for you to use.

I enjoy reading Harry Potter fan fiction stories, especially novel-length stories.  Those included here are works greater than 60,000 words to date, or are sequels of works greater than 60K words and thus anticipated to be of similar length once complete.  Individual stories link to the story page, sequels link only to the author, since I recommend starting from the beginning of a series. If you are a hard-core HP fan wanting to delve into fan fiction, there are plenty more I can strongly recommend as excellent reading. 😉

Good luck with your reading goal. My goal for this year is 50; last year I came just a couple short. I also like audio books – always have a book on my Ipod to listen to when I’m walking my dog, doing dishes, or fixing dinner. I’ve only completed 11books so far for 2013 but am in the middle of #12-14 (I always have several books going at once.) I see that you have The Phantom Tollbooth coming up and I’m just posting a review on it this week (4/8); check it out at!
