A Life That Points to God

Key Scripture: Daniel 6:25–28

Then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world:

“Peace and prosperity to you! I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end. He rescues and saves his people; he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Mom’s Reflection

Daniel was courageous, wise, righteous and godly. He stood by his convictions, and he lived his life in a way that pointed others to God. What was his secret? Simply put, his faith was not in himself but in the great and mighty God of heaven and earth. Daniel is a hero of the faith because his life served as a testimony to God’s majesty and power. Isn’t that what we want our own lives to do? More importantly, isn’t that the kind of life we want for our children?

Just as Daniel had a sure and strong faith in the one true God, so we want to encourage that kind of faith in our kids. How? We begin by living our own lives of devotion to God, as models for our children to see. We continue by repeating the stories and truths of God’s faithfulness over and over again, wherever and whenever we can.

The greatest truth we can pass on to our sons and daughters is to love the Lord their God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength. If we can teach them that, with God’s help, we can raise another generation of faith-filled heroes!

My Prayer

“Great and glorious God, I praise You for Your power and majesty! I praise You for the powerful way You are working in my life. Thank You for Daniel’s example of faith and courage. Help me to teach biblical truths to my kids, so they, like Daniel, will stand firmly for You in their own day and culture. Grant me wisdom and direction in my example and teaching. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.”

It is faith among men that holds the moral elements of society together, as it is faith in God that binds the world to His throne.
